What Does a Good Business Portrait Look Like?

Business Portraits Kerry

There are so many things wrong with a DIY business portrait including bad lighting, inappropriate background, bad expression and on and on. Of all of these, I would have to say, that a bad first impression of a business is what stands out the most. Does non-belief in a quality portrait mean a lack lustre business attitude in general? Does a diy portrait taken with a compact camera mean that the business owner does not have the confidence to portray himself in a professional manner? Should a head shot taken with no thought, really be the face of the business?

One More Dramatic Kiss…

I am trying to meet a deadline but really wanted to share this shot with you. I mentioned Niamh & Tom in an earlier post on their rainy day wedding. Well I have just edited another one of their shots which I really love. This was shot within seconds of rain falling on us. Kerry is such a beautiful county but boy does it rain a lot. I can still say, hand on my heart, that it is THE best place in Ireland to get married…

Back to Ballyseede Castle..

You may have seen Tanis & Aidan’s wedding pre-shoot pics in an earlier post. Well here are the wedding pics taken at the great Ballyseede Castle in Tralee. There are many great shots that I would have liked to feature from this wedding but I have narrowed it down to the most animated ones. Great expressions and real sentiment are my priority to create a good wedding shot but it is not always easy to come by. Some families are just more expressive than others and this was one of those weddings where I had plenty of opportunities to capture that feeling…

The Bride

The moment before walking down the aisle when the veil was whipped by the wind of Tanis’ head and sailed rapidly towards the field beside Curaheen Church. My assistant Mark made a running jump and nabbed it .

Tralee Open Coffee Morning

The ever energetic Anne Kiely of Kiely & Associates hosted an Open Coffee Morning in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee this week. This time the event was in aid of the Kerry branch of the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. Open Coffee Morning is a really relaxed networking event with no major agendas. It allowed me to chat with other hard-working, self-employed people, share ideas, spread the word about my own business and my upcoming Happy Faces 2010 event for Cystic Fibrosis. While I am on the subject of Happy Faces 2010, I would like to let any business person know that this portrait day is a really great opportunity to have a professional head shot taken for your website, brochure etc. at a fraction of the cost (Euro 25.00 per person) with all proceeds on the day going to CFAI. Click on this link to see my current, corporate clients photographs http://www.denniganphotography.ie/press-pr.php

So if you currently don’t have a head shot or have a photograph that really doesn’t do you justice, get into your suit and head down to the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee this Saturday, April 3rd from 11am-6pm. No appointment necessary!
