Serene Sisters

I just came across this shot that I had taken some time ago and I really like it. It is a photograph of the Sisters at the Presentation Convent in Tralee. At the time I was in the middle of shooting a wedding on the convent grounds so I only managed a brief chat before taking the photograph and then running back to my Bride and Groom…

If anyone could tell me the names of the Sisters, I would be grateful.

A Beautiful Pre-Wedding Portrait…

I photographed Tanis and Aidan in Tralee yesterday on the eve of their wedding. This shot struck me immediately as I opened it on my screen. I normally pick my photographs apart but there is nothing I don’t like about this one…

Family Portraits that I would like…

Like a Mechanic with a bad car I don’t own a Family Portrait. I intend to own one very soon, adorn it with a beautiful frame and start its life as a family heirloom on my new wall.

I took these family portraits recently in Kerry. The immediate family, in-laws and grand kids all travelled from Dublin and beyond to celebrate their Parents wedding anniversary…

Beautiful Faces on Happy Faces Day!

I’ll keep it short and let the portraits do the talking. We had a very successful day for IPPA Happy Faces Day 2010 in Tralee for the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland. Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to attend for their special portrait. I am very grateful to my volunteers, Seosaimhin and Anne-Marie and to Pamela at the Meadowlands Hotel who donated the space and their friendly assistance. Here is a small taster of some of the beautiful faces…

Tralee Leads the Way for Happy Faces Day!

Today my fabulous models, Aishling Spillane (age 18, just completed her course in Broadcast Journalism, deals with Cystic Fibrosis and has the makings of professional model), Fiachra O’ Connor (age 14 this Sunday who fully cooperated with me when I asked him to wear a pink t-shirt. What a professional!) and Holly Smith (age 5, on a promise of Jelly Tots and staying up late tonight in return for some smiles!) and finally the very kind Pamela Lucey from the Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee who has given me some space and her time to allow Happy Faces Day 2010 to happen.

So let me remind you…This really great portrait day is happening on Sat, April 3rd in the Meadowlands Hotel from 11am til 6pm. Anyone from age 4 to 99 is welcome and 100% of the proceeds on the day go to the Cystic Fibrosis Assoc. of Ireland to help provide much needed isolation facilities for people with CF.

You are the first to see these before going to press. Enjoy!

Happy Faces Day 2010!

The Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) in association with Canon have just launched Happy Faces Day 2010. Our nominated charity this year is the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI). We really want to help them raise the funds to provide isolation facilities for CF sufferers in Ireland. I will be taking some kick-ass portraits in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee on Saturday, 3rd April between 11am and 6pm. The portrait session is open to any age, from 4 years old to 99 years old (the more wrinkles, the better!). The cost is Euro 25.00 for the mini-portrait session and a desktop portrait which you can choose in black & white or colour. The Happy Faces organisers will only let me photograph people individually so I cannot do groups. Donations over this amount are very welcome also.

Get your Happy Faces over to the Meadowlands, Tralee on Sat, April 3rd, 11am-6pm!

The Look of Love

I photographed Mariena and Seamus a few months before their wedding. Seamus is a man’s man, rugged in looks and in spirit. He spends a lot of time horse riding which resulted in a broken nose at some stage. He wasn’t too keen on showing this off so I kept this in mind while shooting. The contrast between Mariena’s baby face and Seamus’ rugged look worked so well. There is a real spark between them in these shots…

Beautiful baby Conan!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Conan, a little boy of 6 just weeks old. He felt very content once his Dad put his warm hands around him.

Conan’s big brother Kai was quite dubious about my antics with the camera but we had a chat about stuff and sang a few songs, his Japanese renditions were great, my crooning not so good but it did the trick..
